teacher, for question 2, do we need to choose only one lesson? and for question 3, idk how to give reasons. can you help me?- from nabilla nadia

Unknown said...

Teacher , for question 3 , should I provide 3 reasons why I like or dislike the ending . And how to answer this kind of question ? Thank you teacher .

I would love to submit my answer for the 1st question :

Based on the novel The Railway Children by Edith Nesbit . There are many characters that are so good . My favourite character is Bobbie .

The reason why i choose Bobbie as my favourite character is because she is so brave . The act that show her braveness is when she jump onto the railway to stop the train from crash the landslide . For me the society should apply this attitude in their daily life to have a better society .

Other than that , she is such a smart girl . This is potrayed by Bobbie when she decided to ask the old gentleman the medicine presciption for her mother that was ill . I hope i can be as smart as her in the future .

The last reason why i choose Bobbie as my favourite character is because she is so kind-hearted . This can be seen when she collected some gift from the villagers to give to Perk as his birthday present . From my opinion , everyone should be as kind as her so we will have a better world

dear nabilla nadia,
for question 2, choose only one lesson that YOU think is the most important. provide three reasons (events) in which this lesson appears. =)

dear mas,
as usual, try to figure out 3 reasons why you like/dislike the ending. for example, "I like the ending of the novel because the family is finally happy. this is because the long wait for their father is over and he gets to return home. i like it that the children and their mother never gave up hope in the absence of the father and i believe the ending perfect for the story." this can be followed by your other 2 reasons and textual reference. =)

dear shakir,
good job for being the first person to submit. XD your answer is actually very good! but your opinions will sound better if they are directly related to the point. regarding Bobbie's bravery (not braveness, hehe), you can say, 'For me, if people started caring more about others and be less selfish like Bobbie, we will become better and stronger as a society.' ok?

Unknown said...

Thank you for correcting me teacher :D hehe , so here is the answer for the 2nd question :

Based on the novel The Railway Children by Edith Nesbit . There are a lot of lessons that can be learned from the novel . The most important lesson taught from the novel is we must always help other people .

The lesson can be seen when the children help Jim that are injured . They bring Jim to their house and help him to recover until his grandfather came to take him home . In my opinion , the community should always help other people as the children so we could earn a better society .

The second evident that show we need to help other people is when the old gentleman gave the children the medicine presciption for their mother that they asked . The old gentleman asked Perk to give the stuffs to them and the stuffs really help mother to recover . I think people should be more open-handed so the world would become a better place

Finally , the lesson can be seen when the children help to stop the train from crash the landslide . They cutted their petticoats and make six flags from it and waved it to stop the train . I hope i can be as generous as them and help a lot of people in the future .

Nani Othman said...

dear shakir,
that's amazing! your answer is well-structured and the textual references are on point. good job! however, when you begin your sentence with 'Based on the novel _____ by _____," that phrase must be followed by a comma, not a dot. like this: Based on the novel Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone by JK Rowling, there are many lessons that we can learn from the story. OK? the rest of your response is good, except for the word 'cutted' in the last paragraph. haha. the past tense for cut is cut, the word cutted - although very stylish - does not exist. that would be all. =) keep up the good work!

here is the answer for question 1 :

Based on the novel The Railway Children by Edith Nesbit , my favourite character in the novel is Bobbie .

I like Bobbie because she is a responsible person . This can be seen when she do her responsibility as a daughter to take care of her mother when she is sick . i believed the community should apply the responsible value in their daily life to become a better society .

Besides , I like Bobbie because she is a brave girl . She jumped onto the railway line and waving the flags to stop the train from the landslide although it is a risk action . I hope i can be brave like her .

Next, I like Bobbie because she is an honest person . this is shown when Bobbie and her sibling admit to their mother about writing to the old gentleman despite knowing that she would be upset about it . I think many people should put their honesty on every work that they do .

As a conclusion , Bobbie has show many life value throughout the novel that make her as my favourite character. I believe more people should this novel and learn from her .

Unknown said...

ohh no dot but coma , got it . okay i forgot the cut , cut , cut and not cut , cutted lollllllll xD hehehhe thanks teacherrrrr

shakir,
no problem. be very strict with yourself when it comes to grammar, correct yourself once you notice the error and eventually you will improve. =)

Unknown said...

alright teacher ! im will try to improve :D

Nani Othman said...

shakir,
good!

Nani Othman said...

dear nabilla nadia,
congrats on being the second earliest to submit your work! and i must say your response is actually good! the points are well-organized, the paragraphs are coherent. good job! i have some comments, however. =) in your first point when you talk about Bobbie being responsible, there is a small error. She 'does' her responsibility, not she 'do'. OK? He, She, It must always be followed by 'does' if the even is in the present tense. remember! in your second point, a more accurate word to replace the word 'risk' is 'risky'. everything else is fine. well done! just a little correction for your conclusion however, 'Bobbie has showN many life valueS that makeS her (delete the word 'as') my favourite character. I believe MORE people should READ this novel and learn from her.' alright? =) stay inspired, stay focused!

Unknown said...

okay . Noted that . thanks for correcting me =]

nabilla,
no problem. =)

Answer for Question 1-
Based on the novel,The Railway Children by Edith Nesbit, there are many characters of different personalities. My favourite character is Bobbie who is the eldest among the three children in this novel.
I like Bobbie because she is a persistent girl. This can be seen when she did not give up finding a way to help secure her father's release from prison. She is persistent even her mother has given up.I wish this shows her persistent.
Bobbie is also a determined girl. She tries to get all the things mother needs for recovery because her mother is ill.She promises the old gentleman father will pay him for all those things later.I believe this shows she is determined.
Other than that,Bobbie is a caring sister. She goes to the railway station and ask whether the toy engine can be mend or not because she knows that Peter very likes the toy.I hope this shows she is caring.
As a conclusion,Bobbie is a good character and I think more people should read this novel and be inspired by the values that have been shown by all the characters.

My Answer for Question 2-
Based on the novel,The Railway Children by Edith Nesbit, there are many lessons to be learnt. In my opinion, the most important lessons taught in the novel is we must be a responsible person.
The first act of responsibility is shown by Bobbie in this novel. This can be seen when she takes care of her mother when her mother is sick. She writes a letter to the old gentleman requesting a list of prescription for her mother recovery.I think Bobbie is responsible and children nowadays should learn from her.
The next example of an act of responsibility is shown by Mother. This can be seen when she writes stories and sold them to earn money to support the family when father is in the prison.I wish this shows her responsibility and I hope I can be as strong as her.
Besides,an act of responsibility is shown by Peter. This can be seen when he admits that it is his idea to steal the coal at the station because they are too poor to have a fire.I think he is responsible because he tries to help his family as the only boy in his family seem father is not around.
As a conclusion, there are many act of responsibility that we can learn from the characters in this novel.I believe more people should read this book and learn from these character.

Dear Teacher Nani, I am not so sure how to answer this question....Can I answer it in this way?

My Answer for Question 3-

Based on the novel,The Railway Children by Edith Nesbit ended with the return of the father and the long-awaited reunion of the family.I like this ending very much because I think this story deserves a happy ending because the characters already work hard for it.
Firstly,Bobbie tries to secure her father's release from prison. This can be seen when she writes a letter to the old gentleman for help because she believes that the old gentleman is the only one that can help her and she trusts the old gentleman.I believes that Bobbie done all those things to reunite with her father.
Next,Mother is very strong when father is not around. She writes story and sold them to raise up her three children alone. She tries to pretend that she is happy in front of her children.I believe Mother hopes that everything is as usual as before when father is return.
Besides,Peter always try to help his family as much as he can.He steals coal for his family before this because they are too poor to have a fire.He tries to take over the responsibility of his father because father is not around and he is the only boy left in his family. He wants to reduce his mother's burden and he knows father will be happy of it.
As a conclusion,I think more people should read this book and be inspired by the character.

Dear Elaine,
good job on finishing your homework! right. your answer to question one is actually very well thought out. i am very happy that you have all the points well-supported. just a little comment on the opinions:

I wish this shows her persistent.

I believe this shows she is determined.

I hope this shows she is caring.

these 3 statements can be worded in a different way to relate your opinion to your point - not just stating that you hope your point is correct. for example, the first statement would make more sense and relay your opinion better if worded this way: I wish to be more persistent in my life choices too, like Bobbie, because people who do not stand by their belief rarely succeed in life. OK, elaine?

now, for question 2.
i think, overall, your attempt at this question is good and well-organized. except for this statement: I wish this shows her responsibility and I hope I can be as strong as her. Do refer to my comment on your opinions for question 1. everything else is fine.

question 3 has been changed due to complains from your batch that it's too difficult to answer. you can start working on the new question 3 soon!

for your attempt at the original question, i must say that it was very brave. i can see the ideas that you try to put through but there were a few things missing. generally, the original question 3 can be answered like this: "I like the ending of the novel because the family is finally happy. this is because the long wait for their father is over and he gets to return home. i like it that the children and their mother never gave up hope in the absence of the father and i believe the ending perfect for the story." this can be followed by your other 2 reasons and textual reference. =)

alright? good luck in completing the new question 3!

Answer for Qustion 3 -

Based on the novel,The Railway Children by Edith Nesbit, there are several characters who had gone through hardships.Mother is one of these characters.
Mother is very strong because she overcomes life challenges alone. This can be seen when there is a turning point in Mother's life. She writes story and sold it to earn money to raise up her children when her husband is in the prison.I hope I can be as strong as her in overcoming problem in my life because people who gives up easily rarely succeed in their life.
Next,Mother is very patient in overcoming life challenges. She pretends that she is happy in front of her children. She keeps father's secret to make sure that her children do not feel sad and worry about it.She tries to hide her sadness without anyone information.I believe Mother is very patient in overcoming problem and I want to be like her because patience always make us success in challenges.
Besides,Mother is very independent because she does not want anybody help to overcome life challenges. This can be seen when she is very angry because her children seek help from the old gentleman for a list of prescription when she is sick.I hope this shows mother is independent in overcoming life challenges because we as a knowledgeable person should try to overcome challenges by ourselves before seeking for help.
As a conclusion, there are many values that can be seen in the ways as the character solves their problem.I suggest that more people should read this book and learn from them.

Dear Gorgeous Teacher Nani :), please check on it, and if I did anything wrongly ( which I think I did ) , please correct it :)

Question 1 :
Based on the novel The Railway Children by Edith Nesbit , my favourite character is Bobbie.

Bobbie is resourceful girl . This can be seen when she wrote a letter to the old gentleman to ask the thing prescribed by Doctor Forrest for her mother . I really admire her resourcefulness and hope that I can be like her.

Bobbie is also a very brave girl. This is portrayed when Bobbie stood on the railway line to stop the train despite knowing the risk of getting killed. She did this to save the train from a landslide. Her act of bravery should be followed by the society in order to become a better society.

Last but not least, Bobbie is a responsible girl. She took the blame when Peter was caught stealing the coal from the railway station. If we become responsible for everything we did, we will become a better nation.

Question 2 :
Based on the novel The Railway Children, there are a lot of lessons to be learnt. As for me, the most important lesson would be we should be resourceful.

The first act of resourceful is shown by Mother when Father was being accused as a spy, she wrote and sold stories to earn a living and support her family. I really admire her act of resourceful and I hope I can be as strong as her.

Bobbie also portrayed the act of resourceful when she wrote a letter to the old gentleman to ask the thing prescribed by Doctor Forrest for her mother. I believe more people should read this novel and learn from her.

The act of resourceful can also be seen when Peter suggested that they should make flags to warn the train about landslide using the girl's red petticoats. I believe resourcefulness can lead the world to be a better place in the future.

Question 3:
Based on the novel The Railway Children by Edith Nesbit, Mother is one of the characters who had gone through hardships. I really admire the way she solve her problems.

When Father left them, it was the beginning of hardships for all of them especially Mother. They had to move to the countryside and leave their house in London. Mother is very independent woman because she wrote and sold stories instead of begging for people's symphaty. I believe Mother's attitude should be followed by everyone so that we will become a stronger society.

Mother is very selfless when she hide her sadness in front of the children. She did it because she don't want the children to feel the same pain she felt. I hope that I can be as strong as Mother to overcome all the challenges and hurdles in my life.

Last but not least, I like the way Mother handle the hardship when she taught her children at home as she could not afford it to send them to school. Mother is a responsible Mother and always think about her children's needs before hers. In my opinion, if we don't give up like Mother, we will be a successful person.

Thanks a lot Teacher :)
